Igor Munteanu is the Executive Director of the Viitorul Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (formarly known as Viitorul Foundation), an independent, non-profit and non-politically affiliated think tank that promotes good governance practices and standards, accountability of the public policy process. In 1992-1994, he was part of the team of advisers to the first Moldovan elected president, working in the Office of the President's political analysis division. In 1994-1996, Mr. Munteanu was the Assistant to the Director of the International Foundation for Election Systems' Country Office in Moldova, an USAID sponsored program. He is a member of the Institutional Committee of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, a fellow of the John Smith Fellowship Programme (UK). His research papers and articles on public administration, nationalism and democratisation are published in Moldova as well as abroad. Mr. Munteanu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications and Journalism (1989, Chisinau State University), a Mater degree in political analysis and administration (1992, Romania's National School of Political and Administrative Studies) and a Doctoral degree in Law (2002, International Free University of Moldova).
